Rochdale remained two points clear at the top of the Enterprise National League following a 1-0 win at home to Carlisle.
Dan Moss’ effort late in the first half ensured the hosts retained their advantage over second-placed York, who have played two games more.
Defender Moss came to the rescue for his side in the 32nd minute with a fine tackle to take the ball off Harvey Macadam when he looked to be through on goal.
He made the decisive contribution at the other end in the 41st minute, sliding in to turn home a deep free-kick from Aidan Barlow.
The hosts never looked like surrendering their lead as they closed out the game with the minimum of fuss.
