Sam Nombe’s return from injury proved to be timely as he fired the winner in Rotherham’s 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient.

The Millers have been unfortunate to lose a clutch of strikers to injury throughout the course of the season but Nombe’s return proved to be a very welcome one for boss Matt Hamshaw.

The frontman was introduced after the half-time break for Josh Benson and his goal sealed the points.

The best opening of the first half fell within seconds of the start to Ar’jany Martha but the Rotherham forward was denied by the alertness of Orient goalkeeper Killian Cahill.

Rotherham took the lead from a creative move in the 57th minute.

Joe Rafferty’s chipped ball was headed back across goal by Jamal Baptiste and poked in by Nombe.

Orient called Cameron Dawson into action for the first time in unconventional style when Tayo Adaramola’s looped volley threatened to dip in underneath the crossbar.

The away side then threatened from a host of corners but Rotherham held firm with Sonny Perkins hacking wide and Omar Beckles’s header being kept out by Dawson.
