MK Dons head coach Scott Lindsey felt his side deserved to win their goalless draw against high-flying AFC Wimbledon after being “outstanding from start to finish” at Stadium MK.

Neither side found a breakthrough in a scrappy contest with few clear-cut chances, but MK Dons had more of the opportunities.

The results means AFC Wimbledon are now unbeaten in four matches, while MK Dons picked up a first point in four games in League Two as well as ending a three-match losing streak against their rivals.

Despite not claiming victory, Lindsey was delighted with his side’s performance and believes it will be a huge boost for MK Dons going forward.

Lindsey said: “I thought we were outstanding. We deserved to win it. I thought we were brilliant and I really liked us today.

“We were defensively really strong and we played so well. First 25 minutes, we were outstanding – best we’ve played.

“Of course, they’re going to have a spell in the game – they’re in the play-off positions for a reason and they had a spell towards the end of the second half.

“But I think that’s going to do so much for us as a football club, that performance, based on needing to turn a corner today. I’m really disappointed we didn’t win it.

“I think we looked like the team that wanted to win it the most in my opinion. I thought we were brilliant and outstanding from start to finish.

“I think everyone in the stadium could clearly see that we were on it and at it today. We did everything we could to win that game of football today.”

Johnnie Jackson felt his AFC Wimbledon side earned a decent point towards their promotion ambitions.

He said: “It’s a really good point. It was a tough game, physically demanding and a tough opponent to play against. We know all about these occasions and they can be tense.

“Today was a tense game. If it was going to be decided, it was fine margins, maybe a mistake, something like that. So I’m really pleased with the way my team stood up to the test, the way they defended and we’ve come away with a really hard-earned point.

“These ain’t easy games to play and if you get it wrong emotionally or tactically, they’re a good team and you can come unstuck.

“We knew there were times we had to dig in and we had to keep 11 men on the pitch in these types of games.  You can’t afford any ill-discipline.

“We want to create more of a threat than we did today but I can accept that in games and occasions like these that you have to make yourself hard to beat. That’s certainly what we were.”
