Scottish lower-league round-up: Alloa stay perfect and Mark Stowe scores again

David Devine scored the only goal of the game to give Alloa a 1-0 win over Hamilton and hand them their third straight victory to start their William Hill League One campaign.

The 24-year-old struck nine minutes after the break with his second goal of the campaign which handed Hamilton a second successive defeat.

Max Barry, Kieran Shanks and Jack Brown each scored as Peterhead earned a 3-1 victory over Cove Rangers who had Blair Yule sent off in the second half.

Andy Munro’s double helped East Fife to back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory over Kelty Hearts despite having Brian Easton sent off late on.

Alfie Bavidge and Calum MacLeod struck in the first half as Inverness got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Montrose, who are still awaiting their first victory.

Second-placed Stenhousemuir and Queen of the South, who are third, shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

In League Two, Mark Stowe continued his impressive run in front of goal after his sixth league goal of the season earned Spartans a 1-0 win over Forfar to keep them top of the table.

East Kilbride climbed to second with a 3-2 victory over Stirling courtesy of first-half goals from Lewis Dobbie, Rhys Breen and John Robertson, who was also sent off four minutes from time as Albion were pressing for an equaliser.

Dumbarton held off a spirited Annan fightback to secure their third win from four with a 4-3 victory.

Leighton McIntosh and Ally Roy each bagged a brace to give the away side a 4-0 lead but Athletic replied with strikes from Max Kilsby, Aidan Smith and Tommy Muir before running out of time.

Robert Mahon’s hat-trick helped rock-bottom Edinburgh City to a 4-2 victory at Elgin.

Victory for Edinburgh gave them a second win of the campaign but are glued to the bottom with minus eight points.

Clyde and Stranraer are still awaiting their first victories of the season after they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Corey O’Donnell’s opener in the 37th minute was cancelled out by James Hilton just before the break.
