Scunthorpe stayed in the chasing pack behind National League leaders Forest Green with a 3-1 victory at York.

Alfie Beestin put the Iron ahead with a low half-volley in first-half stoppage time before Oliver James Ewing added the second from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute following a foul by goalkeeper Harrison Male.

An action-packed period of stoppage time followed with Ollie Pearce pulling one back for York before Tyrell Sellars-Fleming added Scunthorpe’s third.

The win nudges the Iron up to fourth place with just four points separating them from top spot.
