Stockport manager Dave Challinor praised the performance of goalkeeper Corey Addai following his side’s 2-1 win over Wycombe.
The Hatters’ shot-stopper made several big saves in the victory at Adams Park, which included one in stoppage time from Luke Leahy with seconds remaining.
He also did well to deny Dan Casey, Richard Kone, Fred Onyedinma and Armando Junior Quitirna during the contest.
Kyle Wootton and Jack Diamond scored Stockport’s goals either side of half-time, with Jamie Mullins pulling one back after Alex Lowry missed a penalty.
The result means County are third in the table after securing two wins from two.
Challinor, who has won 115 of his 208 games in charge of Stockport, said: “He made some brilliant saves, and when you look at his record at Crawley, we wanted to bring him to the club.
“Corey’s record for big saves and when you go into the data, the expected goal saves, he was miles above anyone else in the division.
“We know he can do that and we hope it doesn’t have to be a regular occurrence, but he is always up for the task.”
On the performance, he added: “I am happy we have got six points [from the opening two games] but I know we can be better.
“We weathered a storm in the final 30 minutes and we maybe got away with it, so I can’t stand here and say we deserved the three points as we rode our luck and that’s something which will happen over the course of the season.
“I’m very happy that we have had the perfect start.”
For Wycombe, the defeat means they have now lost six of their last seven games in all competitions with their last victory being away at Bolton on Good Friday in April.
Additionally, it is the third season in a row that Wanderers have lost their opening two league games.
Despite this, the Buckinghamshire side have finished no lower than 10th in five of their last six seasons in League One, and head coach Mike Dodds is confident things will turn around.
He said: “I am super relaxed as we will get better as the team will find its flow.
“What I am disappointed in are the goals.
“I don’t think they have had to work too hard for those goals and the penalty and the goal are unbelievable play.
“It feels like we have to work super hard to create these opportunities.
“The bit I am pleased with is that we have that quality to change this, so overall, I have mixed emotions.”
