Alex Hunt hit a pair of superb strikes as Stuart Maynard made it two wins from two in charge of York, with a 4-0 thrashing of Tamworth in the Enterprise National League.

After kicking off his reign with a 3-1 win at Yeovil, Maynard saw the Minstermen wrap up another three points in style on his dugout debut at the LNER Community Stadium.

A deflected Mark Kitching attempt against the crossbar was as close as they came in the first half but the hosts found their shooting boots in the second period.

Hunt opened the scoring with a superb effort into the top corner in the 49th minute and produced another marvellous effort four minutes from time.

Alex Newby grabbed York’s second on the hour and Malachi Fagan-Walcott’s header finished things off in the closing moments. The result lifts York to seventh in the table, with at least one game in hand on each of the top six.
