Junior Eccleston and Brandon Njoku struck first-half goals as Sutton won 2-0 at home to Halifax to climb out of the National League relegation zone.

Sutton registered just their third league win of the season and have taken seven points from their last three matches to move out of the bottom four on goal difference.

Teenage defender Eccleston turned home a cross at the back post for his first goal for the club to give Sutton a 22nd-minute lead.

The home side doubled their advantage nine minutes before half-time when Kai Jennings picked out Njoku in the box and the latter took one touch before volleying into the bottom corner.
