Tom Knowles’ brace sent Forest Green to the top of the Enterprise National League table with a 3-1 win against Morecambe.

The Shrimps took the lead after 23 minutes when Gwion Edwards broke down the left and found the far corner with a strike from distance.

However, the visitors soon took control as Kyle McAllister smashed home into the corner to equalise 12 minutes later and Knowles sent them ahead two minutes before the break.

Knowles then scored his second in the 46th minute after pouncing on a loose ball from Archie Mair’s save to send Forest Green two points clear of Rochdale at the summit.
