Walsall produced a strong comeback to force a 2-2 draw at Chesterfield after finding themselves 2-0 down in the first half.

Goals from Will Grigg and Dilan Markanday put Chesterfield in control before Daniel Kanu and Albert Adomah struck for the visitors to maintain the four-point gap between the promotion rivals.

Grigg scored the opener in the 13th minute after a good delivery from Tom Pearce, finding the net at the second attempt after Myles Roberts kept out his initial effort.

Markanday put the hosts further ahead seven minutes later, dispossessing Evan Weir before advancing towards goal and slotting past Roberts.

Walsall pulled a goal back in the 42nd minute when Kanu met Connor Barrett’s cross, heading powerfully into the roof of the net.

Substitute Adomah equalised on the hour mark, finding the net from close range after Kanu headed on from a free-kick.

Kanu threatened with a driving run and well-struck shot which went wide while, at the other end, Roberts got down well to save a low drive from Lee Bonis.
